Thomas R. Knight

Thomas R. Knight is a registered patent attorney and non-equity partner at Andrus Intellectual Property Law. Tom focuses his practice on domestic and international patent and trademark prosecution and enforcement. He counsels clients regarding patentability and infringement issues and provides written opinions on patentability, clearance, non-infringement, and invalidity. Tom works with clients to develop intellectual property protection strategies to attain long-term business objectives.

Tom's experience spans a wide variety of industries and technologies, including:

• engines and engine control systems
• marine propulsion, automated controls, and hydro-foiling
• fitness equipment, including cardio and resistance-based equipment
• medical imaging, diagnostics, monitoring, and treatment technologies
• power transmission, monitoring, management, and control systems
• wearable apparel and consumer goods
• food and beverage storage, preparation, dispensing, and management
• pneumatic and hydraulic systems, devices, and related control systems
• oil and gas extraction, processing, and transportation
• rail car and rail yard management technologies

Education and Engineering Experience

Tom joined the firm after graduating with honors from Marquette University Law School.  He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Marquette University. Tom also worked for several years in engineering, manufacturing, and operational roles at a Fortune 50 corporation, where he earned a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
